LATEST ENTRY IN HANDMADE SKETCHBOOK

As you may have seen, my previous post was of the watercolour painting of white lilies in the garden for the city florist and I enjoyed painting them so much I decided to use the same plant for my third entry into my floral studies sketchbook. Sorry if you find it repetitive and boring to view.

I'm really quite pleased with the double spread as above showing the bud and leaves with the Winsor and Newton colours used and a full bloom to the right. In true keeping with watercolour techniques, I left the paper white for the petals and then added shadows and detail. (Dont forget to click on image to enlarge .)

Although I tend to repeat myself: this is a fantastic, terrific sketch!

This is a beautiful sketchbook spread. I enjoyed peeking through your posts at the beauty.

Hi Joan, a pleasure to meet you! Oh, you've so inspired me with your blog! I love to make handbound book and only have a few pages left in my last one so it's time to make a new one! Your florals are beautiful! I did look at this up close and was in awe. I tend to overwork my watercolors....ugh...I have saved you to my favorite blogs and will come by often!

What a fabulous spread Joannie, love the layout you used!
Your scan(?) looks a little dark, try pressing gently on the top of the page while it scans to block out the light if it doesn't lie completely flat on it's own...It may help. :)
Got your letter this morning...THANKYOU!!!!

In NO WAY repetitive and boring! I'm a great fan of lilies and have painted them often, depicting them in bud as I wait impatiently for them to bloom so I can paint them in full glory ...

I really would love to see this book "in real" someday.

Thanks Claudia - glad you liked the latest effort.
How nice of you Teri and mARTa to come across and comment on my floral handmade sketchbook latest entry. Marta if you go back a few posts you'll see details of who made my beautiful butterfly covered sketchbook for me.
Anita - thanks for advice re pressing down lid. Glad you got the Telegraph cut out on house paintings safely. I think your prices need to go up!!!
Emma - hopefully will be visiting Anita soon and maybe we can meet up in Ely + the sketchbook.

Joan, I saw your note today so I had to investigate why your comment didn't show up on my 1000th blog because I knew I saw it. It is there but on the next day :) Thank you so much for visiting.
