PEONIES IN THE GARDEN

Philippa came round yesterday for an afternoon painting session and it was so lovely we went into the garden to paint the beautiful soft pink peonies that were blooming.

Here's the result of my effort in my garden sketchbook of flowers. I hope the new sketchbook ordered from Chalk Hill Studios arrives soon as I only have one page left!

Here's Philippa working in the bright sunlight with borrowed sunhat.

and here is how the bloom developed today after lots more strong sunshine.

What an inspiring garden! I hope your sketchbook arrives soon - and soon you will be away to Italy!!!

Your sketches are beautiful!

Phillipa in her hat would make a good subject for one of your new layered paintings on the glossy support.

Your sketch is beautiful and Phillipa would be a wonderful subject for a painting. I can believe your flowers are so far along - we aren't even near to having peonies in our gardens yet - it must be that gulf stream. I noticed that the leaves are all formed on your trees when I watched the royal wedding yesterday.

Hey Barb - our garden is coming along so early this year, we have so much coming out besides the lovely pink early peonies. My new garden sketchbook arrived - its cloth cover is delightful with aquilegia with tiny streaks of mauve on green backdrop and green binding. Karen Jinks is such a clever lady making these to order. www.karenjinks.co.uk

Your new sketchbook sounds absolutely beautiful...what a wonderful way to "document" the beauty in your garden.

Rhonda the new sketchbook is because my garden sketchbook is full. I have the Italian one on order but no rush now as we have had to postpone due to ill health in Anita's family.
