FRONT GARDEN AND GATE

Seem to have had nothing but rain this August, so sat in the front sun room doorway and sketched our garden gate leading out to the lane. Afraid the lamp on the higher parking area is a bit out of proportion - but oh so useful as you park up in the dark when it comes on automatically.

Also sketched the hanging basket on the garage wall, alongside the gate.

Both in my columbine second garden sketchbook of course, making a double spread.

Lovely paintings and I know your home has to an oasis, Joan, such great flowers, ornaments, pretty peaceful things all around. Sorry about all the rain, though. For us, August was weeks of 95+ weather - don't know which would be worse.

These are great pieces Joan! I love the fact that it shows that you are a green thumb, like my mother. It keeps your garden nice and colorful, and inspiring so to speak. And yes, the light in the driveway is a bit out of proportion, but it fits really well with the piece. Keep on posting Joan!
